It's a dark sarry night, the moon is nearly full. We've been winding Jean Paul and Annette - the dive guides - up saying we're gonna do it, and tonight the forces of nature are pulling. Standing on the dive platform:- no torch, no weights, no computer, no suit…..and no undies…..Its time for a quick moon at the crew and we're in. We settle down then ok each other, then its into the black. Tinky starts waving his arms around and starts a planton electric show….wow. I join in the ritual. The next five minutes involves the "casting off of inhibitions" ceremony which cannot be disclosed in this article. Then we swim into a big shoal of blue fish- they swirl around my body as if the spirits of the sea had sent them.

We spot lights, it's the uninitiated, the non pagans. We must hide all evidence of what's happened and return to the boat. 22 minutes 7 metres, then latter feeling very serene.

I talk with the guide Annette and inform her that we are planning to do it again at day-brak when the day boats arrive on the reef and she isn't laughing anymore!!

A big thanks to Steve Slade for organising the trip and for not telling me off all week, thank you also for Evelyns "erotic" dancing… sorry t I mean "exotic" dancing. If that Egyptian classical I'd like to see the smutty stuff!!

P.S. This dive is dedicated to the initiated and the silent ones….J.Owen.
